Steam the bottle gourd for 5-6 minutes.
Heat a pan and dry roast the mustard and cumin seeds, chana dal,urad dal, methi seeds, dried red chilli and asafoetida.
Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
Mix some salt in the onions.Dry roast them on a thick bottomed pan.
Mix cashew butter with some water and set aside.
Add the tempering and cashew mixture and cook for 2 minutes.
