Organic Farming: Boon To Indian Economy

India is the country known for its rich diversity in agriculture. From ancient times farming is considered as a traditional occupation of India. Today ORGANIC FARMING is gaining more prominence not only in rural areas but also among city dwellers.

You must be thinking that what is exactly organic farming? Why it is gaining popularity? How it is practiced using different methods of farming? Which food products are developed through this type of farming?

So basically, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Organic Farming is a system which largely excludes the use of artificial inputs including fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals. It relies mainly upon crop rotations, crop residues, animal manures, biological system of nutrient mobilization and plant protection.

Due to rapid increase in the population of health conscious people, consuming organic food is like a buzzword and became need of the hour for all. Most of the people are opting for organic food to avoid the consumption of food amalgamated with chemicals, pesticides and various other insecticides that are harmful for an individual’s health. 

Organic farming uses traditional method in which products and handpicked and hand ground manually using handmade chakki without using additives or preservatives. This practice is considered eco-friendly that protects the nature as well as biodiversity. It also slows down the process of global warming and helps in soil conservation due to crop rotation.
