INGREDIENTS:

  • 7-8 'Arbi' or Taro root
  • 1 medium sized Onion
  • ¼ Organic Turmeric Powder
  • ½ Organic Red Chili Powder
  • 1 or 2 sliced Green Chili
  • ¼ tsp Organic Garam Masala
  • ½ tsp Organic Amchoor Masala
  • ½ tsp Organic Cumin seeds
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • Pink Salt to taste

 These ingredients are measured to provide enough dish for a family of 4 members. If you want to prepare more masala arbi recipe for, say, six or eight members, then you can increase the measurements of all the ingredients proportionately to get the best possible taste. Always try to use the organic and hand-grounded spices to get the authentic Indian taste.

METHOD:

  • Wash the arbi and boil them in a pressure cooker. Once done, peel and cut it into the desired shape and size according to your preference.
  • In a bowl put turmeric, red chili and garam masala and add water into it enough to make a paste.
  • Meanwhile, put a pan on the stove with medium flame. Pour cooking oil in it and let it heat up.
  • As the oil heats up, place cumin seeds and let it crackle happily. After the cracking of jeera is done, add chopped onions,
  • When the onions turn golden, pour the masala paste and green chillies into it and stir for about a minute.
  • As masala is evenly spread over the pieces of arbi, sprinkle Organic Amchoor Masala according to your preference and continues to stir to ensure that amchoor masala is spread evenly.
  • Cover the pan and heat it cook for arpund 10 minutes. Occasionally stir in between to avoid overcooking of lower pieces of arbi.
  • Now, your masala arbi recipe is all ready to be served with paratha or chapati.
